At Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4, you'll encounter the small wonders of nature throughout the hotel. Step into our lobby and feel the beneficial effects of a space built from Nordic spruce. Marvel at the rolling waves of the Baltic Sea and feel Finnish granite beneath your feet.
Our partner, Metsä/Skogen, has created a multi-sensory nature trail for us, offering delightful experiences from the scent of pine to immersive video art of the sea.
"At Pier 4, the fresh marine environment blends with the dense tranquility of the Finnish forest, creating the perfect setting for guest wellness and relaxation. We designed a unique, multi-sensory nature trail for the hotel to enhance this beneficial effect," says Carita Peltonen, CEO of Metsä/Skogen.
"This is a multi-sensory nature experience unlike anything seen in Finnish hotels before. The detailed experiences along the nature trail each tell their own stories about the importance of Finland’s nature, seas, and forests," Peltonen continues.
Sensory Experiences from Fragrance Cones to Nature Music
Upon arrival, guests receive a fragrance cone from the reception, infused with essential oils that carry hints of juniper, spruce, pine, and lavender. Placed on a bedside table, it supports a good night's sleep.
The hotel's courtyard features a charming mini-forest. Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 also has its own soundscape, blending the sounds of the Baltic Sea and forest nature with beautiful music. This auditory landscape creates a calming atmosphere throughout the hotel's various spaces.
One of the hotel’s highlights is a wellness area designed to promote recovery and relaxation. "Almost every hotel has a gym, but few have such mind gyms. Our designer, Tuuli Sotamaa, created this peaceful and calming space, available for all hotel guests to use," says Carita Peltonen from Metsä/Skogen.
For conference guests, the nature experience is presented through a video artwork. This serene and beautiful piece journeys along the shores of the Baltic Sea and the archipelago, reflecting the diversity and beauty of the sea.
The connection to nature, tranquility, and multi-sensory experiences also extends to the materials used in the hotel rooms, the tableware in the restaurants, and the meadow planted on the rooftop terrace.
