Renovation
Refreshed home port on the horizon – Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone in Kotka
Progress on the renovation work at the Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone in Kotka can already be seen in both the silhouette and interior of the traditional hotel, and the excitement is also palpable for Pasi Pekkanen, General Manager, Hotels at Kymi Region Cooperative Society, and Maiju Salminen, Hotel Manager at Seurahuone.
“I was very happy that we were able to start work on the Seurahuone extension in early 2024, and now the five-story wing has already reached its full height. Work in the lobby area was also completed in the summer, and it has been a pleasure to welcome our guests in the more spacious reception area,” says Pasi Pekkanen.
“Our entire staff is excited about the new facilities that have already been completed. We can’t wait for summer 2025 and the opening of our beautiful and fully renovated hotel and restaurant complex,” Maiju Salminen says.
Seurahuone’s new hotel wing will be home to 55 rooms, and work is currently underway to renovate the existing accommodations. The renovations will provide a new interior design to 70 rooms and suite. As the hotel is in the maritime city of Kotka, the hotel rooms have also been decorated in a maritime style, reflected by the new and renovated rooms’ themes, Ulappa (“Open Water”) and Satama (“Port”).
Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone Kotka and the hotel’s restaurant and meeting services will be open throughout the extension and renovation project. Customers’ comfort will be taken into account in the work planning, and we strive to keep disruptions due to noise and other factors to a minimum.
“Seurahuone in Kotka is ready to offer unforgettable experiences to people travelling for meetings in the autumn season, and the Christmas party season is right behind the corner, too! We bid you a warm welcome to our joyful maritime city to enjoy the bustling atmosphere of Kotkansaari and the first-class services of our hotel!” say Pasi and Maiju.
Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone’s renovation will be completed in summer 2025, and the renovated hotel will include:
• A total of 218 rooms
• 4 restaurants: Frans & Rosalie Bistro, VENN, Amarillo and Las Palmas
• 9 meeting rooms
• 3 saunas
• Gym and Flex & Relax space
