Unfortunately, our hotel has no playroom for children. You can borrow boardgames and books from the reception.

We have three restaurants Frans & Rosalie -bistro, Amarillo and VENN at the hotel. You can find children's menu from Frans & Rosalie -bistro and Amarillo. In addition to this there is microwave on the 2nd floor at the hotel which our customers can use.

Here are some suggestions for family fun around Kotka:

Shopping centre Pasaati’s free play area on the 2nd floor, Pikkupoukama

The shopping centre Pasaati is very close to our hotel, approximately 200 metres away. On Pasaati’s second floor, you can find a free, spacious play area called Pikkupoukama that is decorated in a marine theme. Pikkupoukama is open at 9 am–7 pm from Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm on Saturdays and from noon to 6 pm on Sundays.

Playgrounds

You can find a couple of different playgrounds in the centre of Kotka, within a walking distance from our hotel. We recommend the playgrounds of Sibelius Park, Isopuisto Park, Museokatu, Mansikkalahti and Katariina Seaside Park. Children can play in sandpits, slides and swings.

Maritime Centre Vellamo

The Maritime Centre Vellamo is a sight itself, as it has been designed to resemble a giant wave. Inside Vellamo’s walls, you can find the Maritime Museum of Finland, the Kymenlaakso Museum and various temporary exhibitions – there is plenty to see and experience for the entire family. You can conveniently purchase tickets directly from our reception during your stay at the hotel. Vellamo is located in Kotka’s Kantasatama, only about one kilometre away from our hotel.

Maretarium aquarium

Kotka’s Maretarium is an aquarium for Finnish fish and a popular destination, especially for young children. The natural-state aquarium features over 60 different species of fish and small animals. In addition to the aquarium, Maretarium has a Sea Theatre, exhibitions on nature photography, a maritime gift shop, Meri Café Kristina, and office and nature school facilities. Maretarium is by the sea in Kotka’s Sapokka, some 700 metres away from our hotel. Our reception sells tickets to our guests all year round.

Sapokka Water Garden

Sapokka Water Garden is the most awarded park in Finland, with plenty to see for visitors of all ages. The dominant element in Sapokka is water, which you can see in the nearly 20 metres high waterfall. The park is also surrounded by seawater and there are several small brooks and ponds. After winter, the park wakes up to spring with different flower and plant plots, which will continue to bloom until late autumn. Sapokka Water Garden is worth visiting in the twilight as well, when the lights are lit. The garden is approximately one kilometre from our hotel.

Katariina Seaside Park

Katariina Seaside Park is one of Kotka’s newer parks, and it has been improved a great deal in the recent years. The park was built on Kotka’s south-most peninsula tip, where an old oil harbour used to be. The park is within a walking distance from Kotka’s centre. From our hotel, the distance is just over two kilometres. There are numerous picnic tables, an outdoor sports facility, volleyball court and a couple of playgrounds for children.

Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge and surrounding nature

Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge is a historical destination near Kotka’s centre. It is known to have been Russian Czar Alexander III’s summer spot at the end of the19th century. These days, the lodge is a museum. In addition to the fishing lodge, the surrounding nature is worth your while with its rapids, solid rock and forest paths. The easiest way to get to Langinkoski from our hotel is by car or bike, the distance is roughly six kilometres.

Riverside Park Jokipuisto

Riverside Park in Kotka’s Karhula district was opened for public in 2013. The park is a part of the Jokiranta riverside, which has been left mostly in its natural state and is 2.5 kilometres long. Granite walls, ponds with water lilies and impressive garden plots make Riverside Park. The distance between our hotel and Karhula’s Riverside Park is under nine kilometres.

Valkmusa National Park, Pyhtää

Valkmusa National Park is a bit further away from Kotka, approximately 30 kilometres from our hotel. However, you can easily drive to the national park, and we believe it is worth the trip. The marsh environment of Valkmusa is extraordinary in Southern Finland, and it is a home to several species of birds and butterflies. A 2.5 kilometre long duckboard trail runs round the national park, which makes moving around it easy.
