The South Karelia Museum presents the history and development of South Karelia in the permanent exhibition “The Story of South Karelia”. The museum also has temporary exhibitions on cultural and historical subjects.
The Lappeenranta Art Museum is located in the neoclassical barracks buildings that date back to 1798. Its exhibitions present diverse perspectives on visual arts phenomena. The main focus is on contemporary art and the art of south-eastern Finland. The museum’s collections are exhibited on a regular basis.
The Cavalry Museum presents the history of cavalry and Lappeenranta as a cavalry city. The exhibition presents the history of Finnish cavalry and the artefacts, stories and horses related to cavalry in a comprehensive and diverse manner.
