Koli Ice Fishing Competition

The Koli ice fishing competition will be held for the first time in a long time on March 15, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM. Come and enjoy a delightful day on the sunny ice of Lake Pielinen! You can participate in the competition with full competitive spirit or simply enjoy the atmosphere – everyone is welcome to join!

Competition Categories

There are two categories: the open category and the children’s category. In both categories, prizes will be awarded for the largest total catch, the largest fish, and naturally, the smallest fish.

Participation Fee

The participation fee is €10, which includes bait. Equipment rental is also available through us.

Children under 12 can participate in the children’s category for free. Please provide the age of the children when registering so we do not charge the participation fee.

Transportation and Schedule

Gathering and competition instructions will be given at Rantatie 27. You can still register for the competition on-site without a prior reservation, but pre-booking helps us estimate the amount of bait needed. The competition time is from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and you can manage your time and take breaks as needed. The competition area will be within visible distance from the starting point. The ice on Lake Pielinen is safe, but please be cautious! Local water experts will be present to provide detailed information about the ice conditions.

The final weigh-in for the catch will be at 2:00 PM. Results and prize distribution will take place at SkiBistro Rinnetupa starting at 2:30 PM. Rinnetupa also serves as the competition’s service point, so if you get hungry or need a break, you can easily visit Rinnetupa from the competition site!

The competition is organized in cooperation with Kolin Ipatti Ry. Ipatti will also be selling hot drinks and grilled sausages at the competition site, so please bring some cash for the treats.

The starting point for the ice fishing competition is on the ice of Lake Pielinen at Rantatie 27, next to the Ukko-Koli slopes rental shop. Parking is available at the Ukko-Koli slopes rental shop. There will be traffic control on-site, but we recommend using the Koli Ski&Spa bus, which departs from Break Sokos Hotel Koli Kylä. Return transportation is available on the same bus from the Ukko-Koli slopes back to the Koli Kylä hotel.

Dress warmly and keep the competition coordinator’s phone number handy, which will be provided to participants.

There will be a first aid station on duty immediately at the Ukko-Koli slopes.

Registration

Register by booking your spot here. Select the date March 15, enter the time 11:00 AM, and the number of people. Choose the 11-15 seating and enter the suggested code. Select the participation fee of €10/person and fill in your contact information. In the “Additional Information” section, please indicate the number of children under 12, as we do not charge a participation fee for them.
